God of War Ragnarok features several engaging side quests called favors that lead players through challenging puzzle mechanics and intense boss encounters. One such quest is Path of Destruction, located deep within the vibrant Jungle region of Vanaheim. Completing this favor requires environmental problem-solving to lure out a massive drake known as the Slag Horn.
Prerequisites and Unlocking the Favor
Before attempting this quest, players must ensure they have completed the Return of the River favor to restore water to the Jungle area. Once the river is flowing, travel to the Jungle region in Vanaheim using your boat to navigate the newly opened waterways. Search for massive footprints near a stone structure, which will officially trigger the start of the quest.
Trapping the Bait in the Cage
To draw out the elusive drake, players must drop into the central pit to find a lift contraption. Throw the Leviathan Axe at the structure above the gear to raise the cage bars, then quickly freeze the lower gear to hold the cage open. Exit the area and lure the nearby dog-like Gulons into the open cage before recalling your axe to trap them.
Luring and Defeating the Slag Horn
With the Gulons trapped inside, interact with the chain outside to raise the cage platform up into the monster's lair. Navigate back around through the crawlspace to enter the arena where the Slag Horn now waits for battle. Utilize the Draupnir Spear against its glowing weak points on its legs to stagger the drake and deal heavy damage until it is defeated.
Quest Completion and Rewards
Defeating the beast rewards players with valuable crafting materials including a Dragon Tooth and Dragon Claw. Players also receive the Regenerating Essence Amulet Enchantment alongside a healthy boost of experience points for Kratos and his companion. Finishing this quest brings players one step closer to completing all dragon hunts throughout Vanaheim.
